 Calling Cards Donated to SoldiersDurant community leaders want to make sure that their soldiers can stay “connected” to their families.

The Durant Chamber of Commerce Department, Bryan County VFW and the American Legion given AT&T calling cards to the National Guard military personnel headquartered in Durant.

401 pre-paid calling cards were donated to the 180th Cavalry Squadron.

The local National Guard Captain Kendall Lynn alleged that more than a 12 soldiers are expecting to soon be begets.

“It’s believably one of the most important things to be able to assert contact with your families and probably as a morale bring out that would be the number one thing that soldiers would tell you–that if they fired just have some contact with their classes that’s the greatest thing. Most important thing to them,” Lynn said.

Deployed soldiers presently are keeping in contact with loved ones via Skype, netmail and online social networking.

Nearly 150 soldiers will be going to Afghanistan. Most are regular to deploy this summer.
